Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, as cited by Anfield Edition on Twitter.

The Argentina international's contract expires at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign. With that being the case, Dybala can leave Juventus on a free transfer in the summer.

According to Romano, the 28-year-old and the Serie A club are set to part ways due to a contract dispute. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Dybala in recent times.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Dybala is a top talent. The forward has scored 113 goals and registered 48 assists in 283 appearances for Juventus' first-team.

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has also implied that Dybala is a leader.

As quoted by Forbes, the 47-year-old told Sky Italia the following back in early 2020: “Dybala has already worn the captain’s armband a few times.

“Considering what I know of him, his performances on the field and off, I think that Paulo has matured in recent months."

Del Piero added: “We knew he was someone who loves to work and today I feel he has become a complete player.”

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool signing Dybala, especially as he is set to be a free agent in the summer.

But, the Reds are not short of attacking options (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz).

We would be surprised if the club did attempt to sign Dybala simply because of the forward options that are already at Jurgen Klopp's disposal.

But, only time will tell where the 28-year-old's long-term future lies. For now, we are simply going to focus on the remainder of the season.
