Report - Liverpool set to hand youngster new contract terms

Liverpool are set to offer Harvey Elliott a new contract, according to journalist Paul Joyce.

The midfielder appears to have a bright future at Anfield. The Reds signed Elliott from Fulham for a transfer fee of £1.53 million back in the summer of 2019.

The 19-year-old has been in and around Jurgen Klopp's first-team for well over 12 months now. Elliott's current deal expires at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.

Despite that being the case, Liverpool are reportedly keen to improve his contract.

As reported by Joyce for The Times: ‘Liverpool are to underline their faith in Harvey Elliott by handing the 19-year-old an improved contract.

‘The midfielder signed a five-year contract last summer, but will be rewarded with a fresh deal which reflects the club’s belief in the England Under-21 player.'

Anfield Watch Verdict

Elliott is a promising young player. There is a reason why he is in and around Jurgen Klopp's first-team.

So, we are delighted to hear that Liverpool are going to offer Elliott a new deal. You want your players on contracts that reflect their worth.

Elliott was a Liverpool supporter growing up. As long as he continues to meet his end of the bargain, he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

At Anfield Watch, Elliott is one of our favourite players. He is skillful, humble and he always puts in 100%.

We wish the midfielder all the best for the 2022-23 campaign. Elliott will get plenty of opportunity due to the fact that Liverpool play in four different competitions.

Squad rotation is necessary to keep everyone happy and healthy.
