Liverpool winger Sadio Mane would be open to signing for either Real Madrid or Barcelona if they were to come knocking, according to Goal, as cited by Anfield Edition's Twitter account.

The report states that the 29-year-old has wanted to play in the La Liga from a young age. With that being the case, Mane has apparently informed his representatives of the aforementioned desire.

Goal has stated the following: "Mane would be willing to tread that path [to Spain] if Real or Barca were to come knocking on his door this summer. “He is said to have held a dream of turning out in La Liga since he was a child, with his agents informed of that professional desire.”

Mane's contract expires in the summer of 2023. The Senegal international possesses a current market value of €80 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

We would be gutted if Mane departed Anfield anytime soon. The winger has shown this season that he still has plenty to offer.

Mane has scored 10 goals and registered one assist in 26 appearances for Liverpool. The Senegal international has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.22 in the Premier League this season.

Mane is still at a good age. He could easily play at the highest level for at least a few more years.

Therefore, if Mane is open to a fresh start, the Reds should be doing everything to change his mind.

When the winger scored his 100th goal for the club against Crystal Palace at Anfield back in September 2021, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp made it clear that he loves working with him.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, the German said the following: "People forget around these 100 goals he worked incredibly hard, defended well, pressed high, counter-pressed.

"The 100 goals are just one number but I am just really happy for him.

"It’s a massive achievement in the glorious history of this club. Nowadays players are not normally as long at clubs so I am really happy I could work so long with him."

If Mane is having doubts about his future, hopefully Klopp's love for him keeps him at Anfield.
