Liverpool backed for busy summer transfer window

Liverpool may well have another quiet transfer window this month but they are being backed to be busy in summer 2022.

The transfer window last summer did carry an air of frustration for some Reds.

Whilst it was good that senior players, and a lot of them, signed new contracts to tie them down for the rest of their prime years, it was quite quiet.

Ibrahima Konate was an eye-catching signing and he looks promising already but little else happened in the way of major incomings, with the line being that summer 2022 would be the one where the Reds look to reshape their squad.

And, that said, it appears that that school of thought is not particularly being played down with Reds reporter for the Liverpool Echo, Paul Gorst, suggesting business could be fairly frequent before next season.

He wrote for the Echo:

Anfield Watch Verdict

Those in the recruitment team at Liverpool deserve full trust in what they are doing and though Michael Edwards is coming towards the end of his spell with the Reds, he and those with him in the department will be looking to set things up for a very promising summer of 2022.

Of course, you want to see signings every single season if possible and the frustrations of some is understandable, but hopefully the transfer window after this one will cool some of that feeling down.

Certainly, the Reds' squad is not getting any younger in terms of average age and it does now make sense to be looking at an evolution of the team.
