What records can Mohamed Salah still break at Liverpool?

Mohamed Salah became just the eighth player in Premier League history to reach 200 goal contributions for one club, as he chalked up another three assists in the 3-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Only Arsenal legend Thierry Henry entered the 200 club in fewer appearances than Liverpool's number 11, who has scored or assisted in all five of the Reds' fixtures so far in 2023/24. The French striker took just 206 games to rack up 200 goals and assists, compared to Salah's 223.

Meanwhile, Liverpool 'Egyptian King' also became only the fourth different player to assist a goal in five consecutive Premier League away games – after Muzzy Izzet, Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Deulofeu.

West Ham forward Michail Antonio recently suggested that Salah could go to Saudi Arabia after achieving all that he can at Anfield.

He said: "So he wins another [Premier League title], do you know what that just means? He has won another. It doesn’t add much to anything else. He has done everything he could possibly do at Liverpool."

But Antonio's argument is up for debate. Putting aside the prospect of more silverware for Liverpool, Salah is a known record chaser.

Klopp recently said of his number 11: “He knows the numbers, he know everything. He knows before all of us that there’s a record around the corner he can grab. He doesn’t need help there."

Meanwhile, even Reds legend Ian Rush revealed over the summer that Salah has half an eye on his all-time Liverpool goal record...

While that may be out of reach (unless Salah keeps scoring into his forties), there are still plenty of more achievable targets left at Liverpool.

Here are ten records and achievements still on the table for Salah before leaving Anfield.

Premier League top 1o all-time goalscorer

Salah currently ranks as the Premier League's 14th highest scorer of all time (141 goals). He needs just nine more to draw level with Michael Owen and earn a place in the top ten, alongside the division's best ever strikers.

Surely only serious injury will stop this happening now.

Premier League highest scoring foreign player

The Premier League's current highest scoring non-Englishman is Sergio Aguero with 184, meaning Salah needs 44 to become the outright record holder as the foreign-born player with the most goals in English top flight history.

Incidentally, Aguero is also currently fifth on the overall Premier League top scorers list, meaning Salah would also earn a coveted top five ranking by overtaking the Argentine's goals tally.

Acheivable, but depends on if and when Salah decides to go to the Saudi Pro League.

Most 20+ goal seasons in the Premier League

Salah has cracked 20 Premier League goals in four different seasons, an achievement bettered only by four men – Henry (five), Harry Kane (five), Sergio Aguero (six) and Alan Shearer (seven).

Despite his remarkable consistency, Liverpool's number 11 would need to extend his contract in order to equal (let alone beat) Shearer's remarkable tally.

Likelihood rating: 1/10

Most Premier League Golden Boots

Salah is the owner of three Premier League Golden Boot awards (two shared) from standout campaigns in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2021/22. He has the same number as both Shearer and Kane. However, it is Henry who currently holds the honour of the most Golden Boots in league history with four.

It'll take just one more season for Salah to level it.

Most Premier League hat-tricks for Liverpool

So far, Salah haas four Premier League hat-tricks to his name – against Watford, Bournemouth, Leeds United and Manchester United.

The impressive total is still some way off Robbie Fowler's club record of nine. Aguero has the most overall in Premier League with 12.

Premier League top 1o all-time assist maker

It's not just goals where Salah excels of course, and he has proven himself a master creator too.

With 63 assists to his name, the Liverpool forward sits joint-19th in the Premier League's all-time charts. David Beckham is the man to oust in order to break into the top ten. The Manchester United legend racked up 80 overall, leaving Salah with 17 left to catch up.

Most assists in a Premier League season

Salah has started the 2023/24 campaign with a mightily impressive four assists from five games, including a hat-trick of lay-ons against Wolves.

If he keeps up this rate, he could challenge Kevin de Bruyne's record for the most assists in a single campaign. The Manchester City superstar got 20 in the 2019/20 campaign, the same number as Henry back in 2002/03.

Likelihood rating: 3/10

Most goals scored for Liverpool in a single season

To date, no player has bettered Ian Rush's 47 strikes achieved during the 1983/84 campaign, during which Liverpool won the league title, League Cup and European Cup.

Salah hit a personal best of 44 during his debut campaign for the Reds in 2017/18. Since then, he has never scored more than 31 in all competitions, but you never know.

Likelihood rating: 2/10

Most goals scored for Liverpool in a calendar year

Another Rush record. The prolific Welsh striker bagged 44 in 1986, a total never topped by a Liverpool player.

Salah's best goals return to date (unsurprisingly) came in the year of 2018 (37).

Likelihood rating: 2/10

Top three Liverpool all-time scorer

Salah recently became the Reds' fifth-highest scorer of all time, overtaking Steven Gerrard (187 goals).

While number one ranked Rush's total of 346 would require Salah to have another seven or so seasons of hitting 20+ goals, breaking the top three is more realistic.

Gordon Hodgson is third on Liverpool's list with 241, 52 ahead of Salah.

If he stays to the end of his contract in 2025, he should do it. If.
