Redknapp sets Arne Slot expectations for first season in charge of Liverpool
Ahead of Arne Slot's competitive Anfield debut yesterday, Jamie Redknapp offered his thoughts on what Liverpool's expectations should be for the 2024/25 campaign.
The former Liverpool midfielder believes ensuring Champions League football for next year would be a very successful season for the Anfield side in Slot's first campaign on Merseyside.
Redknapp also considered the immense task Slot has on his plate taking over from the legendary Jurgen Klopp who departed Anfield after over eight years in the Liverpool dugout.

"Make sure they get in the Champions League. I think when he arrived he would have been very happy with the squad he inherited and probably thought to himself whereabouts is this squad?
"Better than Manchester City? No. Better than Arsenal? No. But then they're the next best.
"And that's what I think they've got to make sure they do. Even if they come third, I think that is a very succesful season.
"It's going to be incredibly hard [for Slot], you're following an icon, you're following someone who was more than a football manager, but you've got to make sure you're authentic, you be yourself and coach the team in a way you see fit," Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
A STRONG START FOR ARNE SLOT
Slot extended his perfect start to life at Liverpool with a dominant 2-0 win over Brentford yesterday courtesy of goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
The Reds' dominance is highlighted at both ends of the pitch with Slot's side creating the highest xG (5.3) and conceding the lowest xG (0.8) in the Premier League this season.
The Anfield side will now prepare for a trip to rivals Manchester United to continue their impressive start to the season.
