Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has outlined his desire for Kylian Mbappe to remain at the club beyond the end of this season, while also acknowledging the existence of an 'agreement' with the forward.

Mbappe is now entering the final months of his contract with PSG and is free to discuss terms with suitors ahead of a summer move, should he wish.

Much has been said about Mbappe's future in recent weeks, though the player's next move remains unknown.

Real Madrid have long appeared the frontrunners to land the French superstar, though PSG are still hopeful of keeping their star asset in Paris.

Liverpool, too, are often named as possible suitors for the 2018 World Cup winner, with the forward reportedly even willing to entertain the idea of a pay cut — a practical necessity for a transfer to Anfield – in his next move.

Speaking to RMC, PSG president Al Khelaifi stressed his desire for Mbappe to stay at the club.

"Look, I'm not hiding anything," he is quoted as saying. "For sure I want Mbappe to stay. For me he is the best in the world and for me the best club for Kylian is Paris.

"He is the centre of the project today. It's normal to ask about him. For me he is the best in the world, I have a very good relationship with him. Not only as a player, as a person.

"He has an agreement with me, as he has said. There is no negotiation, but I think he is still young, he wants to win many trophies and hopefully with us."

Up in the air

Earlier this month, Mbappe admitted he has yet to come to a decision over his next move.

"No, to start with I'm very motivated by this year," he told reporters. "It's very important. We have titles to win and we have already won one.

"I haven't made my decision yet. I haven't made a choice. With the agreement I had with the president in the summer, my decision is not important as we managed to protect all the parties and preserved the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which is the most important. So we will say that it [the decision] is secondary."

Since then there have been reports of an agreement with Real Madrid and conflicting stories saying the former Monaco star is still exploring options for a move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, it has been said that Mbappe 'really, really likes' Liverpool.

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool would only entertain a move for Mbappe in the event that Mohamed Salah were to leave the club in the summer. However, with the Egyptian leaning towards a contract renewal, that possibility appears increasingly remote.
