PSG monitoring Liverpool star following Kylian Mbappe decision

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is among the players Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring amid Kylian Mbappe's imminent exit.

After months of speculation, it has been reported that Mbappe has finally made the decision to walk away from Paris at the end of his contract this summer.

Where he ends up is not entirely clear just yet, but Real Madrid is the overwhelmingly likely destination, despite a 'stumbling block' over finances.

Liverpool too have been speculated as a possible destination for the 25-year-old superstar, but ultimately a deal for the Reds appears too much of a heavy lift given the massive salary and bonuses involved.

PSG, meanwhile, are set to bank €200m in savings from Mbappe's departure — a figure which will be added to the pot they intend to use to reshape their attack, according to L'Equipe.

The French outlet reports that Luis Enrique's side don't intend to go after just one superstar replacement in the wake of Mbappe's exit, but will instead spread the money around for an overhaul of the forward line.

Napoli's Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is described as a priority signing, while Salah is another player being monitored by the Ligue 1 champions, with the Egyptian's name 'circulating' in the French capital among the club hierarchy.

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva is also mentioned as a target, along with Joshua Kimmich and Bruno Guimaraes — two players who have also been linked with Liverpool in recent months.

Speculation on Salah's future has been rife for some time.

The forward will have just one year left on his Liverpool contract this summer, meaning the Reds run the risk of losing their star asset on a free transfer if they don't either sell him in the coming months, or agree to tie him down to another extension.

The impending exit of Jurgen Klopp along further highlights question marks over the futures of Liverpool's key stars during this transitional phase for the club.

The 31-year-old was the subject of a bid from the big-spending Saudi Pro League last summer, while that interest could be reignited in the coming transfer window.

Whether that destination has any appeal to Salah, who is enjoying a fantastic season personally, remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Anfield Watch understands that the Egyptian is open to renewing his contract at Liverpool.

Along with PSG and the Saudi Pro League, Barcelona have also been recently mentioned as a club who 'like' Salah.
