In a new role this season, Ryan Gravenberch has surprised many with his consistent performances for Liverpool.

After being somewhat mismanaged last season, with ex-boss Jurgen Klopp unsure how to utilise his strengths, the Dutchman has grabbed his opportunity with both hands, showing everyone exactly what he's capable of.

Named in Premier League legend Alan Shearer's team of the week for the second time in three gameweeks, the Geordie said: "[He's] Instrumental in Liverpool's midfield.

"He's adapted really well to a more defensive role under Arne Slot."

While Gravenberch often has the assistance of Alexis Mac Allister in a defensive double-pivot, he has really faced the challenge head-on, managing to deal with one-on-one situations with ease and showcase his ball-playing abilities in the meantime.

Despite Arne Slot having a more naturally suited No6 in Wataru Endo, Gravenberch has been backed to the hilt with confidence and with the pressure off, he's ensured Endo hasn't been given a sniff so far this season.

Also, having featured twice in Shearer's team of the week is Luis Diaz, who has been praised as "one of Liverpool's go-to players".

Scoring five goals in the Premier League so far this season, the Columbian has been given a new lease of life thanks to Arne Slot's man-management approach, with his fearless runs into the box often resulting in a Big Chance for the Reds.

Across September's international break, both Gravenberch and Diaz were able to replicate their club form for their country, with the midfielder receiving high praise from Netherlands legend Rafael Van der Vaart, who has been blown away with the player's development this season.

Both players have had huge impacts on the team and have been instrumental to Arne Slot's early success, winning five of the Reds' six games so far.
