Liverpool semi-final record provides good omen for Arsenal clash

Liverpool host Arsenal this evening in the EFL Cup as our long-awaited semi-final clash with the Gunners finally gets underway.

The first-leg was postponed from last Thursday to this one thanks to covid cases in the Liverpool squad and the hope has to be that now the Reds are going to be able to name a far stronger line-up this evening than they would have been able last time.

The game is at Anfield rather than the Emirates and though that means we've lost home advantage for the second leg now, there are good omens that come with the Reds playing a semi-final tie at home first.

This comes from the LFC website:

Anfield Watch Verdict

Past success is not a guarantee of future glory, of course, but this is a good sign for Liverpool.

The Reds have got a good record in this particular competition, of course, and will be looking to win it for a ninth time if they can get past Arsenal.

A good result in the first-leg tonight is important, then, and hopefully that can be achieved in front of a lively home crowd.
