"Physical like Stevie G" - Owen Hargreaves compares reported Reds target to Gerrard

Pundit Owen Hargreaves has compared Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Bellingham was very good against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last night.

The midfielder found the back of the net and he registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.98 during the aforementioned Champions League group stage fixture.

Post-game, Hargreaves compared Bellingham to Gerrard.

“Jude can do everything: be physical like Stevie G, he can be aggressive, can play passes over the top, run beyond you, dribble – that’s the type of player you’ve got to worry about because they can do everything,” he told BT Sport, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“The way he speaks for a 19-year-old, it’s not normal. His composure, calmness and elegance to his game, he’s a defensive midfield player scoring against City and playing balls with outside of the foot. He’s a Swiss army knife, he is. Today they wanted him to play higher so he could get them higher up the pitch, he did.”

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Bellingham.

Gerrard was a hell of a player. The midfielder scored 186 goals and registered 153 assists in 710 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Gerrard also won nine major trophies with the Reds. If Bellingham can replicate the Scouser's career, he has done pretty well for himself.

On another note, we do hope to see the youngster wearing the famous red one day. As Hargreaves pointed out, Bellingham possesses a lot of natural talent.

But, only time will tell if Liverpool and the England international are to cross paths in the near future. Watch this space.
