Philippe Coutinho reveals whether he regrets Barcelona move

Midfielder Philippe Coutinho has revealed that he does not regret leaving Liverpool for Barcelona back in January 2018.

The Brazil international made it clear that he wanted to depart Anfield and join the La Liga club.

With that being the case, Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona for a transfer fee of €135 million.

However, the move has not worked out for the 29-year-old. Coutinho has only scored 25 goals and registered 14 assists in 106 appearances for Barcelona's first-team.

The midfielder was very successful at Liverpool. Coutinho found the back of the net 54 times and secured 45 assists in 201 appearances for the club's senior XI.

Despite that being the case, he does not regret switching Anfield for the Nou Camp.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Coutinho told ESPN the following: “No [I don't regret joining Barcelona].

"At times we have to make decisions, and one of my big dreams was to play for Barcelona, but always with great affection, respect and gratitude for Liverpool and for the friendships over the years at the club.

“But at that moment I had a decision to make and I don’t regret it.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It was a shame to see Coutinho depart Liverpool. He was a fine player for the club.

Footage highlights that Coutinho produced some special moments when he was wearing the famous red. The 29-year-old is arguably the most technically gifted player the Liverpool supporters have seen in the past decade.

We can see where Coutinho is coming from in regards to not regretting leaving Anfield. As the midfielder pointed out, Barcelona was his dream move.

The reality is, you don't know how something will pan out in life until you try. Coutinho is still a Barcelona player.

However, he was loaned out (six-month deal) to Aston Villa back in January.
