Therefore, we are not shocked to hear that Terry only had good things to say about Van Dijk.
Terry was asked the following question on Instagram, as quoted by HITC: ‘Do you think VVD has the potential to be the best CB ever?’ and his response was: “Yes, I do, I always say to be regarded as the very best, LONGEVITY is key.
“He has been outstanding for the last 3-4 years. But to be the very best, you need to be at the very top for 10-15 years.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
As we have already pointed out, Van Dijk is a key cog in Liverpool's XI. The Dutchman was very good last season.
Van Dijk averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.23 across the 2021-22 campaign.
We do believe that Van Dijk will be regarded as one of the best centre-backs to ever play the game, especially if he stays at Liverpool (plenty of eyes on the Reds, so he will naturally receive praise if performing).
The reality is, he has had such an impact at Anfield. But, Van Dijk has time up his sleeve to add to his legacy.
The Dutchman is only 31 years of age and contracted until the summer of 2025.
Only time will tell if Van Dijk is to continue playing to a world-class level in the years to come.
