Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was named on the bench for Liverpool's Champions League group stage clash against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium last night.
However, the midfielder did replace James Milner 63 minutes into the match. Some Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter to commend Oxlade-Chamberlain's cameo against Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool defeated the La Liga side 3-2.
He ran that midfield to the ground when he came on. Fantastic pressing, defensive work and was a threat going forward.
I’d 100% put him in v United. He looked like he had a point to prove today and was by a mile our best midfielder.— kazoorice (@wearewinnin) October 19, 2021
Breath of fresh air when he came on. Good movement. Good passes and that tackle towards the end. Hopefully this is just the start of what's to come

He did really well, especially when we needed to retain possession

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We completely agree with the aforementioned responses. Oxlade-Chamberlain registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.94 for his 27-minute performance against Atletico Madrid.
The aforementioned figure highlights that the midfielder had a positive impact on the match.
We would like to see Oxlade-Chamberlain play a few more games. Despite being fit, the Englishman has only played 235 minutes of football for Liverpool this season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain showed against the La Liga side that he could add some quality to Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.
The midfielder can shoot, pass, dribble and retain possession well.
Therefore, hopefully Oxlade-Chamberlain does get more of an opportunity for the remainder of the season.
