Nottingham Forest set to complete the signing of Liverpool's Neco Williams
Nottingham Forest look very close to completing the signing of Wales international and Liverpool full-back Neco Williams.
According to John Percy of the Telegraph, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Nottingham Forest are set to sign Williams and Bayern Munich's Omar Richards, with both deals now being agreed.
Percy also claims that Liverpool will receive a fee close to £17 million for the 21-year-old full-back.
David Lynch has also confirmed that the Welshman is now free to undergo a medical and sign a contract in order to finalise a move.
Despite a fee being agreed between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, personal terms between Williams and the newly promoted Premier League club are still to be finalised, according to Goal's Neil Jones.
Finally, The Athletic's James Pearce has said that Liverpool were happy to sell Williams after bringing in Calvin Ramsay as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deputy this summer.
Anfield Watch Verdict
I have no doubt that Williams is going to become a very competent Premier League full-back with Nottingham Forest.
Unfortunately for the Wales international, he has a top right-back ahead of him in Alexander-Arnold.
The move also makes sense for both sides. Williams wants as much game time as possible before the 2022 Qatar World Cup and with Forest, he will play a lot more football.
For Liverpool, we will receive £17 million for a squad player who wasn't making an impression on the first-team.
We have also signed a new right-back this summer who is more in the mould of Alexander-Arnold than Williams is.
Liverpool fans will definitely be keeping an eye on Williams' future career as he has always been respectful to the club and as I said before, he possesses potential.
Hopefully he doesn't try too hard against us when we face Nottingham Forest next season!
