ANOTHER surprise name in the mix for Liverpool amid Ruben Amorim uncertainty

Liverpool look to be at a crossroads in their pursuit of a new manager after yesterday's developments potentially pointed towards the club losing out on another top target, Sporting's Ruben Amorim.

Reports of West Ham United entering the mix led to The Athletic's David Ornstein reporting that the Portuguese coach was now "unlikely" to head to Anfield in the summer.

This was followed by news that Amorim had flown to London for talks with the Hammers.

Missing out on Amorim could potentially throw the club's plans into disarray. The Reds had reportedly identified Amorim as their prime candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp after Xabi Alonso decided to rule himself out of the running and stay at Bayer Leverkusen.

This would force Reds' hierarchy to reconsider their options, with another surprise contender perhaps now coming to the fore following last night's news that Paulo Fonseca had been approached.

An impressive CV

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are now intensifying their pursuit of Brentford's Thomas Frank as a compelling alternative.

The Danish tactician has earned widespread acclaim for his transformative impact on the club, particularly his role in guiding Brentford to Premier League promotion and subsequently ensuring their survival for three consecutive seasons.

Under Frank's astute leadership, Brentford underwent a remarkable evolution, transitioning from a Championship side to a steady presence in the English top flight.

Central to Brentford's ascent has been Frank's shrewd recruitment strategy, which has seen the club unearth hidden gems and secure promising talents without breaking the bank.

Frank's savvy recruitment of the likes of Ivan Toney, Christian Eriksen, Bryan Mbeumo, David Raya and Yoanne Wissa has not gone unnoticed by Liverpool.

Despite Frank's current commitment to Brentford, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to make a strong push for his services should their efforts to secure Amorim falter.

However, any potential move for Frank would not be without complications, as he is under contract with Brentford until 2027, necessitating a hefty compensation fee.
