Jurgen Klopp has USHERED IN the new Arne Slot era at Liverpool by leading Anfield in a chant for the incoming head coach.

Klopp, 56, oversaw his final Liverpool game as manager on Sunday afternoon as the Reds easily disposed of Wolves, 2-0, at a sun-baked Anfield.

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah ensured Klopp would sign off on a high with his team crowned Carabao Cup champions and finishing third - inside the Champions League places.

After the game the Liverpool squad members offered a guard of honour for Klopp and his departing staff, a lengthy parade given the number of names now confirmed to be leaving Merseyside

Up last was Klopp, who embraced FSG boss John Henry before taking the mic and making an emotional address to the crowd inside the ground.

And in a stunning turn of events, Klopp led the crowd in their first-ever chant for their new coach.

“Arne Slot, la-la-la-la-la!” bellowed the outgoing Liverpool boss, surely a first time in Premier League history that one manager has sung the name of his successor.

It was warmly received by the Kop, who reflected the chant back to the manager they grew to love so dearly over his nine years in charge.

Alongside his staff, Klopp then CHARGED towards the Kop, delivering his now familiar fist-pump salute, which, incredibly, will never be seen again.

Slot era underway

That was a poignant moment for Klopp, who gave it another go on his own before hugging his players and staff again and meeting his wife, Ulla, at the mouth of the tunnel before disappearing forever.

It was out with the old and in with the new at Anfield today with the Slot era now confirmed to be underway.

The 45-year-old Dutchman confirmed his own departure from Feyenoord over the weekend with his club also paying a warm tribute to a man who swept the domestic honours board - winning an Eredivisie title as well as a KNVB Beker (Dutch cup) during his time in charge.

He will take up the reins on Merseyside in the coming weeks as a new epoch begins.
