Goal's Neil Jones has provided a fitness update on Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.

The Brazil international missed the club's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield last Monday due to a muscle injury.

However, Jones has confirmed that Firmino is likely to feature against Manchester United at Old Trafford next week.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Firmino has been a very good player for Liverpool. The Reds signed the forward from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of £36.90 million back in the summer of 2015.

Since then, Firmino has scored 98 goals and registered 74 assists in 329 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The Brazil international is more of a squad player these days. But, Firmino is only 30 years of age, so his career is far from finished.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is certainly a fan of what the forward brings to the table.

As quoted by This Is Anfield, the German said the following back in October 2021: “He’s a very important player for us, he’s a connector. He’s the best offensive defender I ever saw in my life, definitely.

“He’s a ball chaser, he’s incredibly smart with all the things he’s doing, technically on the highest level and is able to play in the smallest spaces.

“Can make incredibly good decisions in a really short (space of) time and on top of that scores goals as well.

“That’s why we are all so happy when time to time he rewards himself with a hat-trick (like) last week, or whatever.

“Everyone in the team loves it because obviously sometimes you think he’s a bit short of getting the praise for the effort he puts in."

So, it would be brilliant to have Firmino back in the squad for the clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
