"Monstrous" - Arsene Wenger has been full of praise for Liverpool duo

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has waxed lyrical about Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The wingers spent the beginning of 2022 representing their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite that being the case, Salah and Mane made themselves available for club selection the moment they returned to Liverpool.

Therefore, Wenger lauded the toughness of the pair after the club's 3-2 win over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica last night (5-2 aggregate win, Champions League, semi-finals).

“Look at Salah and Mane, who played the Africa Nations Cup final (Egypt vs Senegal),” he told beIN Sports. “What they have done since they have come back, it’s monstrous.

“We would have complained in Europe that we played too many games – never a word. Tonight, Mane has been kicked all over the place, never a word.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Wenger. Despite the fact that both players went all the way in the Africa Cup of Nations, they have hardly missed a beat since returning and not complained once.

Overall, Salah and Mane are having very good seasons. The Egyptian international has scored 30 goals and registered 15 assists in 46 appearances for Liverpool.

Mane on the other hand has found the back of the net 21 times and secured three assists in 46 appearances for the Reds.

If Liverpool are to claim the quadruple this season, they have to keep Salah and Mane fit.

The aforementioned figures highlight that the duo are very important in relation to Jurgen Klopp's system.

Salah and Mane simply add so much going forward. They are also prepared to get stuck in defensively.

We wish Salah and Mane all the very best for the remainder of the current season.
