Liverpool-linked teenage talent Momodou Sonko has revealed how he would react to a phone call from Jurgen Klopp, while admitting his friends are pushing for a move to Anfield.

The 18-year-old Swede has been named a potential target for the Reds, with reports claiming that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Sonko during his club Hacken's 2-1 defeat to Qarabag in Azerbaijan in December.

The young forward, who has nine goals in all competitions this season, is supposedly also being monitored by the likes of Ajax, Barcelona and RB Leipzig.

Now speaking to Aftonbladet about the growing transfer interest, Sonko revealed that even some of his friends are trying to push him towards Liverpool.

"Rumours don't matter that much until bids come in," he is quoted as saying. "I don't need to delve into what is written. It's fun to read sometimes, but when you start hearing it several times from friends, it can get a bit tiring. It's a fun thing, but not something I focus on.

"I have some who are Liverpool fans and some Barça fans. They want me to go to the club they support. It's kind of funny.

"I get a lot written to me from my friends. It's fun at first but it can be too much too.

"I laugh at them and tell them to calm down. It's not more difficult than that."

Asked how he might respond if he were to receive a phone call from Klopp, Sonko admitted he would find it funny.

"If he were to call privately, I would laugh. It is quite unlikely," the teenager said.

"It is easier for him to reach my agents than me. I haven't received that call anyway."

Aftonbladet's piece suggests that any deal for Sonko would like cost between 80-100m in Swedish Krona, or £6-7.5m – a potentially record-breaking transfer for Hacken.

The Sweden Under-19 star has largely featured as a left-sided forward for his club and is under contract until 2025.
