Mo Salah praised Darwin Nunez this week, hailing him for a 'unique' quality that he brings to Liverpool. The Uruguayan is in fine form.

Mo Salah was asked about Darwin Nunez this week in an interview with Premier League Productions. The Liverpool forward gave a pretty extensive interview - and had some kind words about his teammate.

"We never had that quality before [that] he loves to run in the space," said Salah, per Liverpoolfc.com. "He doesn't like the ball much in his feet, which is unique [and] he's really, really fast.

"He keeps looking at me because he knows I can get him the ball easily in the space and he can finish the situation. His numbers this season are improving a lot, which is great for us.

"I always try to watch him in training and try to watch the other guys, to be fair."

Darwin Nunez in fine form

Liverpool never really needed a true, direct no.9 as they had Roberto Firmino up top. The Brazilian pretty much played the opposite style of Nunez, preferring to drop deeper and play between the lines, bringing other players into the attack.

That was enormously effective, of course, winning Liverpool every major trophy. They're now trying to do it differently, with their Uruguayan stretching defences and operating as the prime goal threat himself.

It's certainly working. Nunez has won back-to-back games for Liverpool despite playing under 90 minutes combined. He's scored 16 times now, assisting another 11 and the Reds are competing in every competition (having already won one).

The change from Firmino has been big but it's one that Liverpool have made work, primarily thanks to a change in midfield at the same time. We're seeing far more creativity from deeper positions, allowing Nunez to lead the line.

And it's no surprise that Salah is enjoying it, either. Nunez assisting Salah is the highest assist-to-scorer pairing in the Premier League this season (5 times).
