Former Red Michael Owen has given his prediction for Liverpool's upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
The Reds are coming off a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa. The Magpies on the other hand are coming off a 4-0 loss to Leicester City.
With that being the case, Owen can see Liverpool defeating Newcastle United reasonably comfortably.
“Villa frustrated Liverpool for long periods at Anfield, but the win was all that mattered. They are really building up a head of steam and they’ll be eyeing a few goals here that’s for sure,” Owen told BetVictor, as cited by the Chronicle Live.
“After that huge win over Burnley (just over a week ago), I thought Newcastle had turned a corner. They haven’t.
“That was a disaster against Leicester and defensively they were shocking. Eddie Howe will be desperate to get to January and hopefully get a few more players in.
“I can only see this going one way, 3-1 Liverpool.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We completely agree with Owen. Liverpool should be defeating Newcastle United come Thursday night.
The reality is, the Reds sit in second-place on the Premier League table after 16 matches. The Magpies currently sit in the relegation zone after 16 games.
Liverpool are 27 points ahead of Newcastle United. Therefore, Jurgen Klopp's side should be defeating Eddie Howe's team quite comfortably.
But, the Reds will still have to play well to gain a result over the Magpies. The Premier League is known for its unpredictable nature when it comes to results.
We wish Liverpool all the best ahead of Thursday night.
