Loris Karius opens up on his relationship with Jurgen Klopp

Back in the summer of 2016, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp signed Loris Karius from Mainz for a transfer fee of €6.20 million.

The goalkeeper has made 49 appearances for the club. However, Karius has not represented the Reds since the infamous 2018 Champions League final.

Liverpool came up against Real Madrid in Kiev. The La Liga club defeated the Premier League side 3-1.

Karius was at fault for two of the three goals that the Reds conceded on the night.

Since then, the 28-year-old has been loaned out to Besiktas and Union Berlin.

Despite how Karius' career has panned out, he has claimed that he does possess a strong relationship with Klopp.

As quoted by Anfield Edition's Twitter account, Karius told journalist Fabrizio Romano the following on Twitch: “He’s a great guy. If you don’t start, it’s always difficult to like the manager but he’s just a good guy.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It is not Klopp's fault Karius' career has gone backwards in recent years. Therefore, the goalkeeper has no reason to be angry at the manager.

Karius was not loaned out during the summer. Therefore, the 28-year-old is currently available for selection. But, Liverpool do possess a top goalkeeper in Alisson.

The Brazilian possesses a current market value of €60 million, which backs up the aforementioned argument.

Therefore, Karius' time at Anfield is very much over. Hopefully the German can part ways with the club come January.
