Liverpool's predicted XI for the clash against Crystal Palace

Liverpool will welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Monday night.

The Reds' 2022-23 Premier League season did not get off to a good start last Saturday. Jurgen Klopp's side could only secure a 2-2 draw against newly promoted side Fulham.

With that being the case, Liverpool will be looking to improve on last weekend's performance when Crystal Palace come to town.

Alisson - Goalkeeper

Alisson will obviously start in goal. The Brazil international has been Klopp's first-choice 'keeper since 2018. Alisson is Liverpool's best shot-stopper.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - Right-back

Alexander-Arnold was not at his best against Fulham last weekend. The right-back was caught out of position for the Cottagers' first goal and he did not have too much of an impact going forward.

But, Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool's best option at right-back. So, he plays against Crystal Palace.

Virgil van Dijk - Centre-back

Van Dijk also looked a bit off the pace against Fulham. The Dutchman conceded a penalty, which Cottagers striker Aleksandar Mitrovic converted.

However, it is common knowledge that Van Dijk is one of the best centre-backs in the game. We are backing him to respond against the Eagles.

Joel Matip - Centre-back

Matip was sensational for Liverpool last season. He averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.35 across 31 Premier League appearances.

Matip is Liverpool's second-choice centre-back for the foreseeable future.

Andy Robertson - Left-back

Robertson was giving it his all last week, but like many of his teammates, he just couldn't get going.

The Scotland international is a warrior, so we are confident that he will bounce back against Crystal Palace.

Fabinho - Midfield

Fabinho is a crucial cog in Klopp's side. He breaks down opposition attacks and keeps the ball moving.

But, Fabinho was anonymous against Fulham. He just didn't stamp his authority of the match.

Hopefully we see a better showing from the Brazilian against the Eagles.

Jordan Henderson - Midfield

Henderson was well off the pace against Fulham. His positioning was the major concern we took from his performance.

However, Henderson is the captain of the club for a reason. He needs the opportunity to respond.

Harvey Elliott - Midfield

Thiago Alcantara started ahead of Elliott against Fulham. But, the Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury and he could be out of action for six weeks.

So, we fully expect Elliott to replace the midfielder when Crystal Palace come to town.

Mohamed Salah - Wing

Salah was solid against Fulham. The winger scored the goal which secured Liverpool a point.

Hopefully he can claim his fourth Premier League Golden Boot this season.

Luis Diaz - Wing

Diaz played well against the Cottagers during the first half. However, he was unable to capitalise.

Hopefully Diaz is more clinical against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Darwin Nunez - Striker

Nunez did not start against Fulham. But, he replaced Roberto Firmino during the second half of the clash and had an impact.

Nunez scored and registered an assist against the Cottagers. Therefore, we are fully expecting the new-boy to start against Crystal Palace.

Teammate James Milner recently provided an insight into what Nunez will bring to Liverpool in the long run.

Speaking with the club’s website, the midfielder said: “If you put a ball in there, he’ll do everything he can to get on the end of it – good finisher, both feet and he’s different to the other boys up there.

“We’ve already got some very exciting attacking players who can cause problems, so he’s a great addition. He’ll be fantastic for us.

“You want options up there, you want to cause people problems, you want to have options to play different ways because obviously teams are going to watch us and try and stop us, so it’s important we can do everything. With the options we have up there, I think we have a fantastic mix.”
