Liverpool's predicted lineup for their clash against Manchester United

Liverpool are set to face Manchester United in the Premier League at Anfield tonight.

With seven top-flight fixtures remaining, the Reds are only one-point behind league leaders Manchester City.

If the Reds can defeat the Red Devils tonight, they will temporarily go to the top of the table.

Below is our predicted Liverpool XI for the clash.

Alisson - Goalkeeper

It should come as no surprise that we have selected Alisson in goal. The Brazil international has been Liverpool's. No.1 goalkeeper since 2018 and has been performing well this season.

Alisson has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.88 across 29 Premier League matches.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - Right-back

Alexander-Arnold returned from a hamstring injury a few weeks ago and has looked lively in Liverpool's past three matches.

We don't see Reds boss Jurgen Klopp resting the Scouser for such a big fixture.

Joel Matip - Centre-back

Matip, who has been one of Klopp's first names on the teamsheet this season, did not feature against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium (FA Cup semi-final) last weekend.

Therefore, we would not be surprised to see him make a return to Liverpool's starting XI tonight.

Virgil van Dijk - Centre-back

Van Dijk rarely misses a match. The Dutchman has made 42 appearances for Liverpool this season, so we would be shocked to see Klopp take his No.1 defender out of the starting XI.

Andy Robertson - Left-back

Kostas Tsimikas has proven to be a decent option at left-back for Liverpool this season. But, due to the enormity of tonight's match, we do expect Robertson to start.

The Scotland international is having a solid 2021-22 club campaign. Robertson has scored one goal and registered 15 assists in 38 appearances.

Fabinho - Holding midfield

Fabinho is the only holding midfielder at the club, so he will start against Manchester United.

The Brazil international is so important to how Liverpool play. Fabinho simply makes everything tick for the Reds.

Jordan Henderson - Midfield

Henderson did not start against Manchester City last weekend. With that being the case, we would not be surprised to see the captain play close to 90 minutes tonight.

Henderson gives Liverpool energy in the middle of the park. In a big game, you need legs in midfield to counter the intensity of the opposition.

Curtis Jones - Midfield

Thiago has struggled with injuries since arriving at Anfield back in the summer of 2020.

But, the Spaniard has been able to stay fit in recent times. However, we would not be surprised to see Klopp give Curtis Jones a chance tonight.

Thiago did play 87 minutes against the Citizens only a few days ago. Because of the 31-year-old's history with injury, Jones could start against Manchester United.

The Scouser has been given an opportunity from time-to-time when Klopp has rotated his team. Jones has made 24 appearances for Liverpool's first-team this season.

Sadio Mane - Wing

Mane was electric against Manchester City in the FA Cup. The forward scored two goals to propel Liverpool towards a 3-2 victory.

It would only make sense to start Mane against Manchester United tonight. He should be full of confidence.

Luis Diaz - Wing

We could see Diaz starting against the Red Devils simply because Mohamed Salah looks like he needs a rest. The Egyptian international has not scored in his last six matches for Liverpool.

Diaz on the other hand has been in good form since joining the club back in January. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net three times and registered one assist in 16 appearances.

Roberto Firmino - Striker

Firmino did not start against the Citizens last weekend. But, the Brazilian did feature against Benfica at Anfield last week (Champions League, second leg) and was superb.

Firmino scored two goals against the Portuguese side, so we would not be surprised to see him get an opportunity tonight.
