Liverpool's next five Premier League games compared to Man City & Arsenal

Liverpool have followed up their disappointing defeat to Arsenal at the start of the month with a trio of wins against Burnley, Brentford and Luton as they continue their push for the Premier League title.

An impressive comeback 4-1 victory against Luton on Wednesday extended Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League table, a crucial victory given the form of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Reigning champions City recovered from their stumble against Chelsea to beat Brentford 1-0 on Tuesday, meaning they can close the gap at the top to one point with their game in hand.

Right now though, the Reds are four points ahead of City and five clear of Arsenal as we approach a key juncture in the campaign.

Here is how the Reds' current schedule compares to their title rivals Man City and Arsenal.

Following the morale-boosting win over Luton despite a serious lack of fit players, Klopp's injury ravaged squad have the small matter of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this Sunday, followed by a midweek FA Cup fifth round clash at Anfield against Southampton the following Wednesday.

Liverpool's first match in March comes back in the Premier League as they travel to Nottingham Forest - a ground they lost 1-0 at last season thanks to former Red Taiwo Awoniyi.

Then come three huge clashes in the rest of March, starting with a potentially season-defining home match against Man City. The Reds know how significant a victory would be in that fixture, especially given Pep Guardiola's side still have to meet Arsenal later in the month.

What follows is an always tricky trip to Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby. Not only are Everton desperate to dent Liverpool's title aspirations, they're also desperate for points to help avoid relegation.

Roberto De Zerbi will then be allowed an audition for the Liverpool job at the end of the month when his Brighton side travel to Anfield following the March international break. The Seagulls drew 2-2 with the Reds earlier this season and always prove a handful under the Italian coach.

Klopp side then start April with the visit of bottom club Sheffield United.

Liverpool will also play both legs of their last 16 tie in the Europa League during March, although their opponents are not yet known.

  • Liverpool vs Luton - Wednesday, 21 February
  • Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool - Saturday, 2 March
  • Liverpool vs Man City - Sunday, 10 March
  • Everton vs Liverpool - Sunday, 17 March
  • Liverpool vs Brighton - Sunday, 31 March
  • Liverpool vs Sheffield United - Wednesday, 3 April

Man City scraped a 1-0 win over Brentford on Tuesday evening to keep up the pressure at the top. They will have a chance to close the gap on Liverpool when they travel to Bournemouth this Saturday.

A trip to Luton in the FA Cup will come afterwards, followed by a big derby clash with Manchester United at the beginning of March - one game that Liverpool fans will be hopeful of the Red Devils winning.

The Cityzens then play the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Copenhagen, followed by their trip to Anfield on 10 March. Liverpool will be hopeful that an extra midweek game will leave Pep Guardiola's side a little fatigued for their trip to Merseyside.

Man City then travel to Brighton in what could be a problematic clash, with Liverpool fans knowing that at least one of their title rivals will drop points at the end of March when Arsenal travel to the Etihad Stadium after the international break.

  • Bournemouth vs Man City - Saturday, 24 February
  • Man City vs Man Utd - Sunday, 3 March
  • Liverpool vs Man City - Sunday, 10 March
  • Brighton vs Man City - Sunday, 17 March
  • Man City vs Arsenal - Sunday, 31 March
