Liverpool will reportedly offer a new contract to a 26-year-old forward

Liverpool would like to extend Divock Origi's contract, according to journalist Ekrem Konur, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.

The Belgium international's current deal expires at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign. With that being the case, Origi will be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer next summer

However, the Reds are reportedly planning on offering the 26-year-old a new deal.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We are delighted to hear that the club are planning on offering Origi a new contract.

The striker is a very capable footballer. Origi has scored five goals and registered two assists in 10 appearances for Liverpool this season.

As we have already pointed out, the Belgium international is only 26 years of age. Therefore, Origi's career is far from over.

With that being the case, hopefully the club and the forward can reach new terms sooner rather than later.

You can never have too many good players in your squad.
