Liverpool were interested in Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani last summer, according to El Nacional, as cited by Anfield Edition's Twitter account.

The report states that the Reds considered making a move for the 34-year-old. However, Liverpool did not act on their reported interest in Cavani.

The Uruguayan was a free agent in the early parts of the summer. However, on the 10th of May, Cavani extended his contract at Old Trafford until June 2022.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We have no idea if the aforementioned report is true. But, there is no denying that Cavani would have been a decent addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad.

The forward has scored 18 goals in 47 appearances for Manchester United. The aforementioned figures highlight that Cavani would have added some quality and depth to Liverpool's forward line.

Despite that being the case, the Reds have been good going forward this season. Liverpool have scored 31 goals in 11 Premier League fixtures.
