Trent Alexander-Arnold has made one thing very clear while representing England.

All the focus at the moment seems to be on the Liverpool right-back's contract renewal.

The will he or won't he is what the whole media seems to be concentrating on. And with good reason.

Real Madrid are an alluring prospect for a player who is set to enter his prime years, especially with Jude Bellingham already there urging for Alexander-Arnold to join him.

Liverpool on the other hand have dithered on contract negotiations with their prized asset. Within a few months, when the January transfer window begins, Alexander-Arnold will be able to negotiate with other clubs from abroad after entering the last six months of his contract.

But that's not the question marks that he addressed while on international duty with England.

The major Liverpool question Trent Alexander-Arnold answered while on England duty

Away from the talk about his contract at Liverpool, one of the biggest conversations around Alexander-Arnold is his position.

For years now, while on England duty, Alexander-Arnold has been trialled in a midfield role under Gareth Southgate.

It's been a conversation around Liverpool as well. Jurgen Klopp even played him in that position and it's a role the Liverpool no.66 has been deployed in at academy level as well during his formative years.

But the reality is that he is a right-back and he has been proving that while playing for England under interim manager Lee Carsley.

The new England boss has preferred to use Alexander-Arnold in that position and as a result, the 26-year-old has been putting in some of his best performances for the Three Lions.

Even against Greece during a disappointing 2-1 defeat for England on Thursday night, Alexander-Arnold was undoubtedly one of the rare silver linings for his country.

According to FotMob Alexander-Arnold created the most chances in the match (4) and looked a constant bright spark going forward on the right flank.

Would he be able to produce performances like that from midfield?

The answer is no.

That is why it is now clear and obvious. Alexander-Arnold is a right-back. End of debate.
