Liverpool have entered an elite list of teams looking to sign an exciting centre-back who is very highly rated.
Richard Hughes is still yet to leave his mark as the club's sporting director.
He may have made a couple of promising signings in the summer in Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili. However, he didn't address the no.6 problem that the Reds wanted to address in the market.
Meanwhile, he has also failed to extend the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, which is the utmost of priorities for the Reds.
But it's still early days and the club's director has plenty of time to prove his credentials. Especially, as he looks to accelerate moves for exciting talents across the globe.

Liverpool join elite list in Vitor Reis transfer chase
One market that the Reds neglected under Jurgen Klopp's tenure was the South American one.
While plenty of clubs have recruited directly from South America in recent years, the Reds have steered clear of that market despite having a strong scouting presence in the region.
That could change under Hughes. Especially with The Athletic now reporting that Liverpool have entered the race to sign exciting 18-year-old Brazilian centre-back, Vitor Reis.
The Reds are not the only party interested in the Palmeiras defender, of course. According to the report, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are also interested in the wonderkid.
The report also states that he has a €100m release clause, which is roughly £83m.
Reis has only just broken into the Palmeiras first team and has made 15 appearances for the club so far, scoring one goal.
But he has already attracted the attention of scouts with his ease in possession and his ability to read the game.
It's clear he is mature beyond his years and has the traits of a future elite defender. The fact that Liverpool are in the hunt for his signature is definitely a promising development.
