Liverpool transfers: Man Utd urged to pounce for 'unhappy' Trent Alexander-Arnold
Manchester United treble winner Dwight Yorke has called on his former side to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold, 25, is out of contract at the end of next season and so far no breakthrough has been made over a new deal.
It promises to be a transitional season for Alexander-Arnold and for Liverpool with new coach Arne Slot coming in and Jurgen Klopp leaving.
Furthermore, Alexander-Arnold has been experimenting with a new midfield role at England, although everything has not gone to plan for him in that regard.
Real Madrid are known to be keen on adding the Reds’ homegrown hero to their ranks on a free transfer in 2025 but ex-striker Yorke claims Man Utd should make strides to take advantage in the event that Trent becomes ‘unhappy’.
“I’m not sure Trent Alexander-Arnold would want to leave Liverpool as it’s his boyhood club, but Liverpool will be under transition now Jurgen Klopp has left,” he told BestOnlinePokerSites.
Man Utd can take advantage
“Maybe, Alexander-Arnold can evolve as a midfielder under Slot.
“This could be another opportunity where, if Liverpool don’t perform under Slot and Alexander-Arnold becomes unhappy, Man United should do everything they can to sign him.
“I was the first person to suggest that Man United should have signed Leroy Sane started to become frustrated at Man City when he was on the bench frequently, now he’s one of the best players in Germany.
“Alexander-Arnold may have a similar opportunity which Man United should pounce on. Obviously, there is history between the clubs and Alexander-Arnold will know that as an Englishman, but it can be an opportunity to look out for.”
Liverpool have plenty of contract business to attend to before the summer of 2025 with not only Alexander-Arnold but also Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s terms expiring at the end of next season.
