Liverpool transfers: Trent Alexander-Arnold 'agrees Real Madrid move'
Trent Alexander-Arnold has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer in summer 2025 according to a shock new report in Spain.
TodoFichajes claims that Madrid’s deal to land the Liverpool right back is ‘complete’ and he will arrive at the Bernabeu when his contract expires next year.
The report states that Madrid attempted to open negotiations with the Reds over a transfer for Alexander-Arnold this summer but opted against a move owing to Liverpool’s asking price.
Alexander-Arnold will NOT be leaving Anfield this summer despite his expiring contract but the England man has already made a decision on his long-term future.
Hopes are fading at Anfield that Trent will commit to a new deal, according to the report, as his contract ticks into its final year.
Madrid are plotting to repeat the trick that saw them land high-profile defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger on free transfers in the past, who signed from Bayern Munich and Chelsea respectively.
This year they have just completed a mammoth free agent deal for Kylian Mbappe while also adding up-and-coming Brazil forward Endrick to the ranks.
Current right back Dani Carvajal, a winner at Euro 2024 with Spain, is out of contract in 2025.
Los Blancos also boast Jude Bellingham in the ranks, a firm friend of the Liverpool, homegrown hero in the England squad.
The highly-decorated right back has fuelled speculation over his future by revealing his Madrid leanings, describing Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo as his dream dinner party guests and sending a hearty public congratulations to Bellingham after he won the Champions League.
Liverpool contract predicament
Alexander-Arnold is one of a trio of Liverpool superstars out of contract next summer with ongoing uncertainty over Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
The Egyptian is the Reds’ top earner on around £350,000 per week and has just celebrated his 32nd birthday.
Van Dijk, meanwhile, will be 34 next summer when his deal expires and he has thrown his club and international future into doubt owing to recent comments.
