Liverpool’s U19s were in action on Wednesday afternoon as they took on Bologna in the UEFA Youth League and Rio Ngumoha impressed once again.

The clash took place at Liverpool’s academy and the young Reds managed a 2-1 win, their first victory in the competition this season.

Ranel Young and Amara Nallo, who was captaining the side, both got on the score sheet for Liverpool, whilst Federico Tonin scored the visitors only goal.

The win sees Liverpool U19s remain unbeaten in the competition following a 0-0 draw with AC Milan in their opening game.

Ngumoha impresses for the Reds

Although he didn’t make it onto the score sheet, Liverpool’s newest wonderkid Rio Ngumoha was once again impressive.

One moment in particular has received a lot of attention online, when the winger was able to beat two defenders and curl the ball onto the crossbar from outside of the area.

The youngster signed from Chelsea’s academy earlier this summer and is already showing glimpses of just how good he can be.

At just 16-years-old the attacker is full of promise and will be hoping to break into the senior squad soon. FSG CEO Michael Edwards put a lot of work into signing the highly-rated teen and it appears he is going to be a future Liverpool superstar.

Liverpool may have a golden generation

Although Ngumoha was a big addition this summer, alongside midfielder Alvin Ayman, Arne Slot already had a number of great prospects at the club.

Trey Nyoni is widely regarded as one of the best talents currently in Liverpool’s academy and has already made his first-team debut with a cameo in the FA Cup last season despite only being 17-years-old.

Nallo is also making a name for himself and, following his goal today, it may not be too long before he is once again handed a place in Liverpool’s senior match day squad.

A number of Liverpool’s youngsters departed the club after Slot’s arrival but the future is still looking bright and the prospects that remain at the academy, as well as those out on loan, could have a big part to play in Slot’s future plans.
