Joe Gomez has been left ‘perturbed’ by his potential inclusion in a swap deal involving Anthony Gordon earlier this summer.
That’s according to a new report in HITC, which claims that the England defender ‘is ready to seek a move away’ from Liverpool following the failed transfer.
It was revealed by the Daily Mail last month that the possibility of Gomez joining Newcastle was explored by the two clubs ahead of the profit and sustainability rules deadline on June 30.

Newcastle were facing the prospect of losing one of their star names with Gordon, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes all mentioned as potential departures.
Gordon was offered to Liverpool in a complex deal, which would have seen the former Everton winger sign for £75 million with Gomez going the other way in a £45m deal.
Medicals were scheduled for the two England men at the Three Lions’ base in Leipzig during Euro 2024 but the move was aborted when Newcastle found other solutions.
Arne Slot says Gomez has a part to play
Elliot Anderson left for Nottingham Forest while one-time Arne Slot star Yankuba Minteh joined Brighton, meaning the Magpies were spared selling one of their big names.
It was claimed over the weekend by Paul Joyce in the Times that Slot had spoken with Gomez during the Euros, leaving Liverpool’s longest-serving player in no doubt that he would have a valuable part to play during the 2024-25.
That came despite transfer interest from plenty of Premier League teams, including Aston Villa, West Ham, Brentford and Crystal Palace.
It was reported during last season that Gomez would consider his future at Anfield with it being believed that the versatile defender would favour a move back to London.
There was also interest in Gomez from certain teams in the Saudi Pro League.
The Times’ report also acknowledged that the club believe every player has a price.
Gomez facing stiff competition for spot in team
Despite that, Graeme Bailey in HITC says that the 27-year-old is ‘perturbed’ at his name being included in the potential Gordon deal.
Gomez, a centre back by trade, played 51 times for Jurgen Klopp during his final season in charge, often appearing at left back, right back and even in central midfield.
It remains to be seen whether he is first-choice under Slot but competition in the centre back slots is fierce with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Gomez joined Liverpool from Charlton back in 2015, playing 224 times for the club, and is the only current member of the first-team squad to see the Klopp era end to end.
