Liverpool transfers: 21-year-old target dribbles from halfway for 'incredible' goal
Liverpool target Georgiy Sudakov scored a sensational goal to send Shakhtar Donetsk to the Ukrainian Cup final this week. The Reds came close to getting him last summer.
Georgiy Sudakov scored twice this week as Shakhtar Donetsk beat Chornomoreta Odea to qualify for the Ukrainian Cup final. The 21-year-old has been catching the eye over the last two seasons - and he certainly did so here.
Sudakov scored twice but his first goal was truly fantastic. The youngster picked up the ball on the halfway line and drove the entire length of Odea's half to score.
As Shakhtar's Twitter account puts it, 'this is just incredible'. It's the kind of magic that justifies a big signing and Sudakov is certainly set for one of those in 2024.
Liverpool linked with Sudakov
Liverpool have been linked with a move to Sudakov, not just in this upcoming transfer window but last summer, too. The Reds reportedly came closest to sealing a deal with Shakhtar but went in a different direction late on.
And they supposedly 'continue to show interest' in Sudakov, who will almost certainly move on this summer. Clubs in Italy are linked with the Ukrainian, as well as the Reds.
But can Liverpool justify a move anymore? Instead of signing Sudakov, they brought in Ryan Gravenberch who is still very much at the club.
Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and Dominik Szoboszlai all play a similar role, too. It's difficult to see how Liverpool move for Sudakov with all that talent available, the 21-year-old feels like one too many.
All of this can change, though. Liverpool will have a new manager this summer and if he's a massive fan of Sudakov, then perhaps they move for him.
But as things stand, we just can't see it. He's clearly a fantastic talent - but probably not one Liverpool need anymore.
