Liverpool now joined by TWO PL rivals since entering £51m playmaker chase

Liverpool have been joined by two Premier League rivals since registering their interest in a £51m playmaker. They’re now up against the clock.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Liverpool are in the race for Dani Olmo this summer. They're not the first to claim this, either.

Sport suggested the same as Barcelona now risk losing out on one of their long-term transfer targets. They've wanted Olmo back at the club for a long time now.

Bother believe the Reds could be the ones to end their hopes as Olmo nears an exit ahead of next season. He has a release clause in his contract of around £51m but it expires on July 15th.

It means clubs are up against the clock to secure Olmo for that price. It's why Liverpool suddenly have a lot more competition.

MD claims both Manchester City and Manchester United have registered their own interest in Olmo since Liverpool have. The race is seriously starting to heat up - but is it one Liverpool actually want to win?

Should Liverpool sign Dani Olmo?

As we mentioned last time, there are some reasons Liverpool might want to hold off here. There's no real reason to doubt Olmo's quality but his appearance record is far, far below what you'd want from an expensive signing.

He missed 27 games for RB Leipzig and Spain this season, with another 20 last season. To find 38 league appearances, you've got to go back across three full seasons before you find enough.

It just doesn't seem like a risk worth taking, in all honesty. Liverpool need to strengthen in other areas and given reliability going forward is the biggest concern, Olmo isn't a fix.

£51m is an awful lot of money to spend on a player with such a massive question mark hanging over him. So for that reason, we're not sure this is a deal Liverpool should pursue.
