Liverpool have lost out to yet another midfielder that they have wanted all summer.

The Reds have consistently been linked with Teun Koopmeiners all year with the player always expecting to leave Atalanta this summer.

Juventus had been the favourites to sign the Belgian but had been unable to secure a deal leaving the door open for the Reds.

Juventus agree deal

Italian news outlet Gazette is reporting that Juve have now agreed a deal with Atalanta for the midfielder.

The Serie A giants will pay a figure in excess of €50 million that will come closer to €60 million with bonuses.

Koopmeiners is expected to undergo medical tests tomorrow, so that he can immediately join the squad for their next match against Roma before the international break.

This is the second time during this transfer window that Liverpool have been snubbed by a midfielder.

The Reds suffered a setback earlier this month as Martin Zubimendi rejected their approach and decided to remain with Real Sociedad.

The Basque club had pushed hard to keep him and got their way - the midfielder wants to stay with his boyhood club.

Another Liverpool rejection

Liverpool first pushed big for a no.6 in 2022 when they tried to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco. He admitted that himself to Le Parisien and made it clear he was always going to sign for Real Madrid, despite the Reds' push.

Then there was last summer. Liverpool went for Romeo Lavia but pivoted when Moises Caicedo appeared to be available - Chelsea were delaying their move there and the Reds wanted to take advantage.

However, Caicedo rejected a move to Anfield because the groundwork at Chelsea had already been laid. Lavia, not liking Liverpool's pivot, then said 'no', too, and also went to Chelsea.
