Liverpool’s 2025 transfer window could be set for major activity.

After a relatively quiet 2024, with just one new player joining the first-team squad, things are expected to ramp up next year. Along with the arrival of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, the Reds may also need to find replacements for three of their biggest stars—Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah—whose contract situations remain unresolved.

While Liverpool have potential internal replacements for these players, it's likely they would still need to make significant signings to fully replace such key figures should they leave in the summer.

Liverpool handed Trent boost

Liverpool have started the season brilliantly and look ready to compete under new head coach Arne Slot.

The Reds are currently top of the table and have won nine of their opening 10 games in all competitions this campaign.

All of this early season success has been somewhat overshadowed by the ongoing saga surrounding the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

The trio are all out of contract at the end of the season and there are many suitors for all three players, but Liverpool may have just been handed a boost in their negotiations with Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool have been rock solid at the back under new head coach Arne Slot, and the Reds are reaping the rewards.

In their opening seven Premier League matches, Liverpool have only conceded twice, and they have looked well-organised as a unit.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been praised for his defensive improvement under Slot and Ibrahima Konate has recertified himself as the first-choice partner for Virgil van Dijk.

Despite the defence’s strong start to the season, Liverpool may now be looking for reinforcements to future-proof their backline in case out-of-contract Van Dijk were to leave at the end of the season.

European giants want Endo

Liverpool have excelled this season under new head coach Arne Slot but one member of the Reds’ squad has barely featured under the Dutchman.

Slot’s side are currently top of the Premier League and have only conceded twice in their opening seven matches in the competition.

During the Reds’ impressive start in the league Wataru Endo has been limited to two one-minute cameos and the Japanese veteran midfielder doesn’t appear to be a part of Slot’s plans.

The emergence of Ryan Gravenberch as Liverpool’s first-choice holding midfielder has hampered the number of opportunities awarded to Endo and the 31-year-old could soon be on his way out of Anfield.

Romano shares Trent latest

Liverpool's homegrown No66 is a talent that the world has rarely seen before, with the passing range of David Beckham and Kevin De Bruyne combined whilst playing at right-back.

Now into the last year of his contract, no one can stop thinking about how disastrous it would be if Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn't at the club next season.

Speculation around the Scouser's contract extension negotiations and potential moves elsewhere have been constant for months and yet we still are none the wiser.

He came out last month in an interview where he claimed that winning trophies is paramount to his future ambitions and so that will be what he will base his considerations on.

Additionally, it was reported that Trent is excited about the possibility of captaining Liverpool in the future, following in the footsteps of his hero Steven Gerrard.
