Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on rumours linking current Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou to Liverpool.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, the Italian stressed that he has not seen any indication of any contact from the Reds to Postecoglou's camp, nor any desire to leave Spurs.

“He’s very happy at Tottenham and I’m not aware of contacts with other clubs," he said, emphasising the Australian's satisfaction with his current job.

With Jurgen Klopp leaving the Reds at the end of the season, Postecoglou's is just one of many names being touted to replace him.

Xabi Alonso is the current favourite to take over, but the likes of Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Postecoglou — a boyhood Liverpool fan — have also been mentioned.

However, Romano highlighted the 58-year-old's active involvement in the club's transfer strategy: "He was also very much involved in talks to convince Lucas Bergvall to join Spurs for example, so it doesn’t look like a worrying situation to me."

No plans to let Ange leave

While Postecoglou seems happy where he is, there's also a clear reluctance from the club to let him leave.

Football Insider last week corroborated Tottenham's stance, insisting that club chairman Daniel Levy has no intention of letting the former Celtic boss move to a Premier League rival, especially with three years still to go on his contract.

The report also rubbished any suggestion of a release clause in the Australian's deal.

Moreover, Postecoglou himself quashed rumours during a press conference last Friday, reaffirming his long-term commitment to the club.

He told Sky Sports: "Right now it is about finishing the season strong with Tottenham and making sure we establish a strong foundation for who we want to be in years to come."
