Liverpool Transfer Rumours: MORE Darwin Nunez Instagram drama fuels speculation

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has found himself at the centre of storm this week after his social media activity and a recent rendezvous in Barcelona added fuel to the fire of a potential move away from Anfield.

After heading straight down the tunnel following Liverpool's 4-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday, Nunez made waves by wiping his Instagram account clean of any Liverpool-related content amid criticism of his recent performances.

Many, including Premier League winner Chris Sutton, interpreted this as a hint towards an impending departure from the Merseyside club.

Now, amid the speculation, the Uruguay international has further stoked the flames with an Instagram story posted on Tuesday.

Darwin Nunez in Barcelona this week

In the story posted on the social media platform, Nunez was photographed in Barcelona, a move that has only served to intensify rumours linking him with a move away.

Nunez's decision to publicly repost an Instagram story shared by Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, featuring the two players together, has only added credence to the swirling whispers of a potential move to the Camp Nou.

While Nunez's presence in Barcelona could simply be attributed to spending his day off with his national team colleague in the Mediterranean sunshine, Spanish outlet Sport has seized upon the opportunity to suggest a deeper narrative.

Citing ongoing reports of tension between the striker and Liverpool due to him losing his place in the starting lineup in recent weeks, Sport has speculated that Nunez's visit to Catalonia could be interpreted as a come-and-get-me plea to the directors at Barcelona.

Darwin to replace Lewandowski?

The La Liga runners-up have been mooted as possible suitors for Darwin as they look for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, who looks set to head to Saudi Arabia this summer.

That said, the Catalan giants are operating under strict financial constraints and would still have to sell before they can buy.
