Liverpool transfers: €60m Martin Zubimendi preference REVEALED
Liverpool’s top target Martín Zubimendi is very interested in a move to Merseyside according to some top journalists.
Despite reports earlier in the week that Real Sociedad had mounted a charm offensive to keep Zubimendi in San Sebastián, Liverpool seem to have turned the head of the 25-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that the Euros winner is “really, really tempted to join Liverpool” as he believes the club is “really something special”.
Earlier this week it was revealed that Zubimendi was Liverpool’s top target in the no.6 position and since then things have moved very quickly, with Liverpool and Real Sociedad now locked in negotiations for the holding midfielder.

Zubimendi is interested in Liverpool move
Now, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has backed up local reports from San Sebastián by confirming that Zubimendi wants to join Liverpool “with immediate effect”.
He mentions the good relationship that Liverpool have with Zubimendi’s agency, who also represent Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso, and this could be a key part of Zubimendi’s transfer to Anfield.
Despite interest from Arsenal and Barcelona, Zubimendi looked set to stay at Real Sociedad this summer following an impressive season capped off with a dazzling performance in the Euros final after replacing the injured Rodri at half time.
Liverpool’s approach for the player appears to have tempted the midfielder to asses his options and consider life away from Basque Country.
Liverpool’s need for midfield reinforcements
The holding midfield role is one that had been identified as a priority by Arne Slot and Richard Hughes and there has also been consistent interest in some of Liverpool’s current options including Tyler Morton and Wataru Endō.
Despite being a priority, Liverpool took their time identifying Zubimendi as their top target and are yet to make a signing this summer even with their first Premier League game of the season being just over a week away.
Liverpool are also targeting acquisitions in multiple other positions and a number of outgoings are expected too, with plenty of interest being reported in current Liverpool players.
Although it has been a slow start to Slot’s first transfer window at Liverpool, things could soon heat up if Liverpool can get the signing of Zubimendi over the line.
