Liverpool transfer news today: ‘COMPLETE’ player wanted, Gordon AGREEMENT
Here’s all your latest Liverpool transfer news, including updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool target Rohl
Liverpool’s interest in a 22-year-old playmaker is serious enough to force a reaction from his current club. Merlin Rohl is generating some real hype.
Bild's head football writer, Christian Falk, claims Liverpool have serious interest in Freiberg midfielder Merlin Rohl. Rohl is currently injured, but the Reds have been pushing forward on the player anyway.
Falk says they're scouting the 22-year-old and have now added him to their shortlist. The interest is serious enough that Freiberg have reacted to it - they've offered a new contract to Rohl in an attempt to keep him around long-term.
Bayern in Alexander-Arnold race
While Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation remains unresolved, the race to sign the right-back phenomenon is seriously hotting up.
On January 1st 2025, should Liverpool not have a signed new contract on their desk, clubs from around the world will begin negotiations to secure the services of one of the biggest talents in Europe.
While Real Madrid's interest in Trent has been reported extensively, it now seems that German side Bayern Munich could be interested in making a move.
This is according to Give Me Sport, who have been front and centre of Real Madrid's interest in the 25-year-old.
Gordon close to new contract
Fabrizio Romano has shared a new Anthony Gordon update after Liverpool tried to sign the player in the summer. The Scouser has an agreement.
Fabrizio Romano claims there is now an agreement between Anthony Gordon and Newcastle United over a new contract. It's yet to be signed, but it appears the winger will get a five-year deal in the North East as a reward for his efforts last season.
Gordon joined Newcastle from Everton and enjoyed a brilliant campaign, lighting up the Premier League and drawing interest from other clubs. In fact, the Magpies rejected 'several approaches', says Romano.
Liverpool eye Rodrygo
Should Liverpool's contract negotiations fall through, the club faces the prospect of three of its standout players leaving for free this year.
One of which is Mohamed Salah, the Reds' leading goalscorer in the Premier League era.
In a bid to replace Salah, should negotiations for an extension prove to be unsuccessful, Liverpool have already looked at numerous different options and a new report suggests that Real Madrid's Brazilian talent Rodrygo could be on his way to Merseyside.
Speaking to El Chiringuito de Jugones, via Fichajes, journalist Eduardo India said: "There is a team from northern Europe that is obsessed with a Real Madrid player to replace the absence of a player who is getting older and who is Egyptian and who will leave that team. I'm talking about Salah leaving Liverpool.
"The replacement is a player who is sensational every time he plays the ball and who is often undervalued. I'm talking about Rodrygo."
Barcelona want Alisson
Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation has been a major talking point so far this season, with the future of the position seemingly secured and yet still unknown.
The signing of Georgia’s Euro 2024 hero Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia - who is set to join the squad next season - has brought into question the future between the sticks at Anfield. With Alisson Becker still playing at a world-class level and Caoimhin Kelleher being a more than acceptable backup, other teams are circling to secure their services.
And the main suitor for Liverpool’s Brazilian number 1 appeared to be Barcelona, with reports emerging that their manager, Hansi Flick, is eyeing Alisson as the long-term replacement to the now-injured Marc-Andre ter Stergen.
