Liverpool's recruitment team tried to sign a prolific forward before the end of the summer transfer window.

It has been an underwhelming transfer window for Liverpool. However, the last few days certainly offered plenty of excitement with Federico Chiesa coming in to join the club.

Although there might have been even more excitement as Liverpool were reportedly in the market to make further signings right until the end of the window.

According to the latest reports, the club even tried to explore a move for a very prolific forward, who already has over 100 career goals under his belt at just 25-years-old.

Victor Osimhen has been highly admired by Liverpool scouts for years. The club tried to sign him while he was playing at Lille, but he ultimately opted to join Napoli instead.

Now the forward could be closing in on a loan move to Galatasaray.

Micah Richards makes bold Salah claim

Micah Richards has predicted that Mo Salah will stay at Liverpool, despite being in the final season of his current deal.

Salah dropped a huge hint about his future following Sunday's dominant victory against Manchester United, reiterating on Sky Sports that this is 'my last year' at the club.

Such admissions from the Egyptian have prompted fears to rise among the Liverpool faithful that an Anfield departure for their talisman is drawing near.

However, Richards believes the 32-year-old will remain on Merseyside beyond the end of this campaign, not least because Liverpool cannot afford to offload Salah, irrespective of his age.

"I think he is going to stay," said the outspoken pundit. "I think there was an opportunity for him to go last year, a Saudi club was linked with him. Obviously, Mane went out to Saudi. But I just think, 'what’s the point in selling Salah?'

Barcelona interested in Matip

Barcelona could explore deals for multiple free agents, including former Liverpool icon Joel Matip, now that the transfer window has closed.

According to Todo Fichajes, Barca could still be looking for defensive reinforcements and must turn to the free agent market where they have identified Joel Matip as a target.

Matip is yet to find a team after leaving Liverpool this summer when his contract expired, however a number of clubs from across Europe have been linked with the veteran defender including Bayer Leverkusen.

Matip signed for Liverpool as a free agent in 2016 and went on to make 201 appearances for the Reds, winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup as well as a number of other honours.

Chiesa arrival could have Salah impact

Jamie Carragher believes the arrival of Federico Chiesa could see Mohamed Salah remain at Liverpool for the coming years.

Chiesa signed for the Reds in the final week of the summer transfer window for a fee of £12.5 million after the Italian was frozen out of Thiago Motta's squad at Juventus.

The 26 year-old will provide valuable cover for Salah as well as being an asset that can operate all across the attack.

Despite Salah entering his final year of his current Liverpool contract, the former Liverpool defender believes the signing of Chiesa will see Liverpool's number 11 remain at Anfield beyond the end of this season, with the Egyptian believed to have 'a lot of miles' still in him.

Stefan Bajcetic is one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects and will spend the rest of the season on loan at RB Salzburg, under the tutelage of former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders.

The 19-year-old arrived at Liverpool from Celta Vigo’s academy in 2021 and has made the most of the opportunities presented to him so far.

Bajcetic was handed his first run in the Liverpool first team by Jürgen Klopp in the 2022/23 season, at one point playing in eight consecutive league games, and he even played the full 90 minutes of Anfield’s Merseyside derby.

Unfortunately, his season came to an early end in March when he picked up an adductor injury that would see him out of action for almost three months.

The midfielder didn’t make another first team appearance until September 2023, when he started against LASK in the Europa League but it would not be long before Bajcetic found himself back injured, this time with a calf problem.

The teenager was limited to only three appearances for Liverpool’s first team last season, making a comeback from injury against Spurs at Anfield in May.
