We're some distance from the summer transfer window, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from spinning.

Here's our Liverpool transfer news roundup.

Florentino Perez 'announces' Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly told his players that the club have signed PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

That's according to Foot Mercato, who cite a tweet from Mbappe's international teammate Aurelien Tchouameni with the popcorn emoji as something that wasn't just a coincidence, with the pair set to be joining up at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The saga surrounding Mbappe has long dragged on, with Liverpool constantly reported as in the mix despite the club's clear reluctance to cough up the ungodly finances required to bring the Frenchman in.

Just waiting on an official announcement.

Competition for German duo

Liverpool are reportedly the front-runners for both Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz AND Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala - but face fresh Premier League competition.

That's according to the Daily Star, who say that Manchester City have sent scouts to watch both in Bundesliga action.

Liverpool are of course heavily linked with bringing Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso in to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer, leading many to speculate a potential raid on the German outfit.

Their interest in Musiala has also long been claimed, although no concrete action has been taken as of yet.

The Dutchman is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Mainz, becoming a regular in the side as they battle to stay up.

Insisting that first-team football must remain his priority, Van den Berg said: "If I see that I won't get much game time, then I might choose to leave. It's really important to me that I play.

"In previous years, I didn't feel like I would be starting next to Virgil. I don't know yet what my chances will be like next summer."
