Liverpool transfer news today: Kvaratskhelia DEAL, Dutch duo WANTED & Inacio now the PRIORITY

Here is the latest Liverpool transfer news as the window begins to heat up for the Reds. There is big news regarding targets Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Goncalo Inacio, as well as some Dutch links.

KHVICHA KVARATSKHELIA READY FOR NEW NAPOLI DEAL

There has been a decisive breakthrough around the future of Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with it being reported that he is now ready to sign a new contract.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, which carries quotes from the Georgian’s agent stating that the player's destiny is now in Napoli’s hands.

It would mark a stunning turnaround for the reported Liverpool transfer target whose father earlier this summer declared that the wide man would be seeking to quit Napoli during the off-season.

‘Kvaradona’ was reported to be unhappy with having FOUR coaches in one year for the deposed Serie A champions.

Antonio Conte, the new man in charge at the Diego Maradona Stadium, has identified Kvaratskhelia as a key figure in his team and meetings have taken place in recent weeks around a renewal.

LIVERPOOL EYE DUTCH DUO FOR ARNE SLOT

According to CaughtOffside, the Reds remain in the hunt for Teun Koopmeiners of Atalanta, while Slot is described as an admirer of the Feyenoord star Quinten Timber.

Koopmeiners missed the Euros due to injury and seemed at one stage destined for Juventus but the Old Lady are struggling to get that deal over the line due to Atalanta’s asking price.

Liverpool therefore are not yet out of the race for the Dutchman with the deal described as ‘one to watch’ in the report.

Timber, 23, meanwhile was a star for Slot under his Feyenoord regime after joining from Utrecht in 2022.

Deployed mostly in central midfield, Timber scored seven goals and provided nine assists across 31 Eredivisie games last season. He is under contract at De Kuip until 2026.

SPORTING CP MAKE CENTRE-BACK DECISION

Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio has now been named as Liverpool’s priority signing in this transfer window by reports in Portugal.

Monday’s edition of O Jogo reveals that Inacio, 22, could well be a ‘casualty’ for Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of the new season with interest intensifying from Anfield.

The Reds would appear to have a straight run at Inacio ahead of other potential Premier League suitors, such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Inacio is contracted to Sporting until 2027 and his deal contains a €60 million release clause. There are however suggestions in Portugal that Sporting would rather sell Inacio’s central defensive partner Ousmane Diomande if they had to choose between who leaves this summer.

It’s reported that new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot would like a new defender with Joel Matip having left on a free and long-term uncertainty around Virgil van Dijk.

In that context, Inacio has now arrived at the top of the list.

FABRIZIO ROMANO PROVIDES ATTACKING UPDATE

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes that Liverpool could still sign a new forward this summer despite a deal for Anthony Gordon falling through.

The Reds discussed the possibility of bringing the former Everton man to Anfield, but felt the winger's price tag was too high. They also refused to part ways with young centre-back Jarell Quansah, who was wanted by Newcastle United as part of a deal.

However, journalist Romano believes negotiations for Gordon prove that Liverpool could still recruit a new attacker this summer, even if they have to wait for the right opportunity to arise.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano offered an update on Liverpool's search for attacking reinforcements.

"Up front, it depends on the opportunities. If there is an opportunity, why not?" said Romano.

"For example, Anthony Gordon was one of the names they considered internally; there was a possibility to make the deal happen, but not under Newcastle's conditions.

"They believe Newcastle were asking too big a fee for Anthony Gordon, which is why the deal didn't happen, but this is showing how Liverpool could be reactive and ready in case they feel there is an opportunity also up front."

DEAN HUIJSEN SET FOR PSG DESPITE LIVERPOOL INTEREST

Liverpool are set to be beaten to the signing of wonderkid centre-back Dean Huijsen as Paris Saint Germain close in on a deal for his signature.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old over recent months, with the Dutch-born defender having shone in Serie A last season.

The Spain under-21 international is a product of the Juventus academy but spent last term on loan at capital side Roma.

Tuttosport had previously reported that PSG were edging closer to a deal for the youngster, but that Juventus were seeking €30m (£25m) to sanction an exit.

With the French champions having only offered €20m (£17m), there was still work to be done despite Huijsen having agreed to a Paris switch.

However, La Stampa have now revealed that PSG are readying another bid for Huijsen and that the player and his team are incredibly eager to join the Champions League semi-finalists.
