Liverpool Transfer News Today: Guimaraes clause, Frimpong interest and Henderson move

We're about to hit the midway point of the January transfer window - and as of yet, Liverpool have been very quiet.

With the only incomings being players returning from loans, it looks like Jurgen Klopp is set to live up to his promise and not bring any new names in this month.

However, there have been many cases where Liverpool announce a signing completely out of the blue - see Cody Gakpo last winter for reference - so you can never rule the Reds out when it comes to sneaky transfer business.

Here are a few rumours doing the rounds concerning the current Premier League leaders.

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is reported to have a release clause in his contract worth €115m (£98m).

Liverpool have long been linked with the Brazilian and are alongside Chelsea as two Premier League clubs who could look to take advantage of Newcastle's uncertain financial position as regards to FFP.

AS have claimed that clubs looking to sign Guimaraes would been keen to pay the release clause in three instalments of €38m.

This saga doesn't look likely to go away for the foreseeable.

Liverpool are among the sides interested in Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to Football Insider.

They are joined by a handful of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and now West Ham, all of whom are fighting for the Dutchman's signature.

Frimpong has been having a fantastic season at Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen, who currently sit top of the Bundesliga.

The Netherlands international will reportedly be available later this year via a release clause worth around £35m, as per Bild.

Jordan Henderson on the move?

Wantaway former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is reportedly closing in on a move to Ajax.

According to the Mirror, the Dutch giants are prepared to offer the midfielder a way out of Saudi Arabia as they themselves look to emerge from a nightmare season.

However, they will have to fend off new interest from Juventus, with Gazzetta dello Sport saying that Henderson has jumped to the top of the Old Lady's wish list.

Any permanent move away will leave Liverpool with a sizeable cash windfall, with Henderson's Ettifaq contract having a sell-on clause.

Liverpool block Rangers offer for Owen Beck

Rangers have had an offer for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck rejected, according to Football Insider.

Beck was recalled from a successful loan spell at Scottish side Dundee at the beginning of January to provide cover at left-back, following the injuries of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

However, immediately following his return to Anfield, numerous clubs have tried their luck to try and temporarily secure his services.

Rangers appear most interested in the defender, and reportedly offered to take him on loan until the end of the season - but to no luck.

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has talked down claims that he is looking for a move away from the Allianz Arena this month.

Liverpool have long been tentatively linked with the German international, but it was Premier League title rivals Manchester City who appeared to be leading a potential race for his signature.

His contract expires next summer, with talks over a new deal having reportedly stalled.

Commenting on his contract position, Kimmich told Sky Germany: “I’m only focused Bayern. For me, it's not a winter topic at all. At some point the club will approach me, and we'll discuss it between us and not with the media."

Chelsea locked in Victor Osimhen talks

Chelsea are reportedly locked in talks with Napoli over a deal for Victor Osimhen, according to CaughtOffside.

This comes just months after it was reported the Nigeria international had agreed personal terms on a move to Anfield.

Osimhen, who fired Napoli to a first Serie A title in 33 years last season, is the top target for Mauricio Pochettino's side and the Blues have put in plenty of 'leg work to ensure they can be at the front of the queue for his signature'.

After signing a new contract last month, Osimhen has a €130m release clause.
