Liverpool Transfer News Today: Slot RAIDS Feyenoord, Fabrizio Romano on Koopmeiners and Neto price REVEALED
The countdown to the summer transfer window is well and truly on and we have all the latest Liverpool transfer news today (Tuesday May 28).
The Reds are already being linked with multiple targets as they look to retool their squad after the departure of Jurgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot.
Arne Slot RAIDS old club Feyenoord for first signing
Arne Slot’s first backroom appointment at Liverpool has been confirmed, with Ruben Peeters joining as First Team Lead Physical Performance Coach.
Peeters, 32, moves to Anfield from Feyenoord, where he worked as Head of Performance alongside the new Reds’ head coach.
Slot’s move to Liverpool was announced last week following the conclusion of the Premier League season with a compensation deal of a reported €11 million worked out between the English club and Feyenoord for the coach and two members of his staff.
Slot, Peeters and assistant Sipke Hulshoff will form the core of Liverpool’s new coaching setup as the club seeks to move beyond the Jurgen Klopp era.
Peeters was previously Physical First Team Coach at Belgian side Genk, where he worked from 2017 to 2021.
He earlier graduated with a Masters Degree in Sports Sciences from KU Leuven.
Fabrizio Romano provides Koopmeiners to Liverpool update
Fabrizio Romano has given his latest on Liverpool potentially moving for Teun Koopmeiners this summer. The midfielder could leave Atalanta.
There have been a few links, mostly out of Italy, between Liverpool and Koopmeiners. It's a natural link to make, admittedly.
Koopmeiners is a player Liverpool allegedly looked at years ago before he moved to Atalanta from AZ Alkmaar. His form this season has been on another level, though, and he's expected to leave Bergamo this summer.
“Teun Koopmeiners – We’re seeing more links with Liverpool, but I’m still told he’s a priority target for Juventus this summer. Juve are working on it,” Romano told Caughoffside.
“Let’s see what happens at Liverpool but my information is that there is nothing concrete so far, we will see as soon as Arne Slot meets with the club’s new directors.”
Liverpool get Kimmich boost as German star 'snubs Barcelona offer'
Joshua Kimmich’s Bayern Munich contract expires in 2025 and the German international has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
The 29-year-old is one of Bayern’s top earners, making an annual €19.5 million gross, according to reports, and so far there has been no agreement over a new deal.
It has been speculated that Bayern are willing to let the player go should they receive a decent offer in the upcoming transfer window. As well as Liverpool, Kimmich has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Sport details though that Kimmich has knocked back Barca’s opening salary offer, deeming it a long way short of his expectation.
It’s no secret that Barca are struggling to balance the books, especially with a substantial €30m salary outlay going on Robert Lewandowski and requiring compliance with LaLiga’s strict financial fair play laws.
It remains to be seen whether a compromise can be reached between the two parties and, if not, the ball could well end up in Liverpool’s court.
Barca boss wants to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz
Barcelona sporting director Deco is a massive fan of one Liverpool star and he wants him at the club this summer.
AS reports that Barcelona do want to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer. Specifically, though, sporting director Deco wants him.
Diaz is apparently the favourite of Deco, who has loved the Colombian since his time at FC Port. Deco is a former Porto player, of course, having been the star when they won the UEFA Champions League in 2004.

And now he wants Diaz to follow in his footsteps and join Barcelona. However, it won't be simple.
For one, Barcelona can't actually afford Diaz. This absolutely won't happen without at least one major sale, and the report suggests Raphinha will be that sale - or at least, that's the plan.
Diaz would take his place in the team, making it feel like a natural upgrade for Barcelona. Though, they'd still need to convince Liverpool that a sale is in the Reds' best interests.
Thiago linked with shock Barca return after Liverpool exit
Barcelona have contacted Thiago Alcantara over becoming an ASSISTANT to incoming head coach Hansi Flick.
That’s according to a new report in AS, which claims Barca are seeking a German and Spanish-speaking link between Flick and the dressing room.
Three players initially fit the bill for the Catalans, including Thiago, Javi Martinez and Marc Bartra. All three played in the Bundesliga - Thiago and Martinez for Bayern and Bartra for Borussia Dortmund.

In the case of Thiago and Bartra, meanwhile, they are both Barca La Masia graduates.
AS reports that Barca are initially ‘pessimistic’ about Thiago’s chances of taking up the role, which could put an early end to his playing career.
At 33, the playmaker has just left Liverpool on a free transfer after four years and has been expected to continue his playing career elsewhere.
Reds learn Pedro Neto price as Wolves want huge fee
The asking price of reported Liverpool transfer target Pedro Neto has now been revealed.
The Reds are expected to make an attacking acquisition in the upcoming transfer window, specifically targeting wingers or inside forwards according to recent reports.
The likes of Johan Bakayoko and Federico Chiesa are among the names that have been linked with an Anfield switch, with newly-appointed manager Arne Slot set to be handed a new forward for his debut campaign in charge.
Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Neto has been one of the more consistent links over recent months, with Fabrizio Romano having previously revealed that Liverpool have scouted the 24-year-old.
However, the Reds will need to part with a significant sum of money to capture the Portuguese's signature.
According to The Telegraph, Wolves will 'demand' at least £60m for Neto in the summer market - a record transfer fee received for the Old Gold - but are in no great need to offload one of their prized assets.
The report names Manchester City and Newcastle United as interested parties as well, with the former 'long-term admirers' of the speedy forward.
Klopp on the move again with '£3.4million Spanish swoop'
Jurgen Klopp has reportedly made his first major swoop since leaving Liverpool with a new £3.4million purchase.
The German God left Anfield earlier this month after nine incredible years in charge, and according to The Daily Mail he is now getting to grips with life after Merseyside.
The tabloid claims Klopp is now starting life in Majorca in a five-star hotel as he and wife Ulla prepare for construction to finish on their new £3.4million villa.
Matip wants to sign for Premier League rival after Anfield exit
Liverpool could come up against one of Jurgen Klopp’s favourites next season as he eyes a move to a Premier League club.
The Daily Express reports that Joel Matip hopes to sign for a Premier League club this summer. The defender leaves Liverpool after eight years, having initially joined on a free transfer from Schalke 04.
And what a free transfer he was. Matip quickly cemented a role in the team and was Virgil van Dijk's partner for the 97-point Premier League season that culminated in the UEFA Champions League triumph.
Even in his 7th season, Matip was first-choice alongside Van Dijk before an awful knee injury ended his campaign prematurely. The end of his contract this summer meant he left Liverpool, having not been offered a new one.
Despite Jurgen Klopp's reported advice to offer him one, we should add.
Reds get Summerville boost as Leeds fall flat at Wembley
Liverpool got the result they needed on Sunday if they’re to secure one of their top targets of the 2024 summer transfer window.
We exclusively revealed earlier in the season that Liverpool are looking at Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. The player scored 19 times in the Championship this season, assisting another nine.
Fabrizio Romano backs that up, suggesting the interest has been there for a very long time now. And it's one that now makes quite a bit of sense.
Arne Slot is stepping in as the next Liverpool manager - a compatriot of Summerville and one who he'll be clued in on. The winger was one of the most exciting young players in the Eredivisie for a spell, while Slot was AZ Alkmaar's boss.
While Summerville reportedly has mixed feelings about leaving Elland Road, that might have changed now after the Whites lost 1-0 to Southampton in their Championship play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.
