The summer transfer window is set to close in a week and Liverpool have finally made their first signing according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Liverpool have been the only club in the Premier League to not bolster their squad this summer after failing to secure Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

The Reds had been tipped by Romano to have a busy end to the window but so far there has been significantly more outgoings than incomings.

According to Romano, Liverpool have secured the signing of wonderkid Alvin Ayman from Wolves.

The 16-year-old will join the Reds on a five-year deal, with a £2 million compensation fee agreed.

It has been no secret over recent months that Liverpool have been looking to bolster their defensive midfield and the Reds have now been dealt another blow.

After losing out on Martin Zubimendi, it has been widely reported that the club wouldn't just sign any other player for the sake of it.

While links have been made with Adrien Rabiot and Teun Koopmeiners nothing concrete has been established.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal had been heavily linked with Joshua Kimmich who was expected to leave Munich this summer after a difficult season under former Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel.

Now the player is set to be given the chance to impress in the midfield under new boss Vincent Kompany.

Mainz have joined the race to sign Liverpool youngster Owen Beck with multiple other Bundesliga clubs interested too.

DaveOCKOP has revealed on X that Mainz are interested in signing the 22-year-old, joining a number of Bundesliga teams as well as QPR who are “extremely keen” on securing a loan deal for the left-back.

Beck, who is the great-nephew of Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorer Ian Rush, impressed last season on loan at Dundee FC and Liverpool are looking to loan him out again.

The Welshman was recalled in January as Liverpool experienced a mini injury crisis but only played seven minutes before returning to Dundee on loan for the remainder of the season.

After he was recalled in January, both Celtic and Rangers enquired about signing him, but a move never materialised.

Now, Liverpool are looking to send Beck out on loan once more to allow him to get regular minutes and develop more by playing first-team football.

Liverpool are reportedly gearing up to make a last-minute move for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The club has been in the market this summer for a new wide player looking at various options on the market.

Earlier this summer, the Reds were tipped to sign ex-Everton forward Anthony Gordon but they failed to agree a deal with Newcastle.

The 23-year-old has been on the club's radar for some time with the player having numerous doubts over his future at the Serie A club.

He had indicated that his future would be decided after the Euros however it has been radio silence for quite some time.

Now according to the Football Insider, Liverpool are prepared to make a last-ditch attempt to secure the winger's signature.

'Whispers' circulate around Branthwaite

A former Everton chief executive has spoken about the future of Jarrad Branthwaite, claiming that talk of a potential move is merely ‘mischief’.

Keith Wyness, who was employed by Everton for five years during the 2000s, told the Liverpool Echo that “I’m hearing a load of whispers about [Jarrad] Branthwaite joining Liverpool during the week, which I think is more mischief from fans than anything else.”

However, Wyness did concede that fellow Evertonians would be “biting our nails about outgoings and incomings,” particularly in a current period of transfer uncertainty for the toffees.

Reports regarding a potential swap to the red half of Merseyside for Branthwaite have circulated in recent days, with Bet365 slashing its odds on the defender joining Arne Slot’s side.

Branthwaite is not the only Evertonian of the modern era to be linked with a move to Anfield. Former Everton forward Anthony Gordon was seemingly set for a shock move to his former rivals in a deal which would have seen Joe Gomez move to Newcastle United.

Gomez update amid Newcastle interest

Arne Slot provided an update on the future of Joe Gomez in his press conference this morning, admitting that ‘everything can change’ amidst rumours of a departure away from Anfield for the 27-year-old.

Speaking to the media ahead of his second Premier League fixture in charge of the Reds, Slot spoke on a potential return to the team for Gomez when Liverpool face Brentford on Sunday.

“He's worked really hard since he came back, but he didn't play a lot at the Euros," noted Slot. “When he came back in the first sessions he couldn't train the whole sessions, so we had to manage his load a bit. That was also the reason why he wasn't in the team last Saturday."

“But this week he had a good week in terms of load and how much he could do with the team. It's been a good week for him and for us until now."

Gomez played a vital role under Jurgen Klopp, particularly in the latter stages of the German manager’s time as Liverpool boss.
