Here is all the latest Liverpool transfer news as the Reds search for their first summer signing. There are updates on Fabio Carvalho and academy star Fabian Mrozek, while one former defender is interesting rivals Manchester United.

LIVERPOOL COME TO FABIO CARVALHO DECISION

Liverpool do not want Fabio Carvalho to leave the club permanently even though he was let go on loan last season.

There is a big chance in pre-season for Carvalho to stake a claim in the first-team squad after failing to do so under Jurgen Klopp in two seasons.

A spot could open up for Carvalho due to how Arne Slot sets his team up but it's on him to grasp the chance with both hands on the USA pre-season tour.

According to Football Insider, the club are certainly not willing to let him leave for the long term even if he doesn’t perform in pre-season.

However, another loan move could be on the cards, according to the report. The Portuguese youth international thrived at Hull City during the second half of last season having struggled at RB Leipzig previously.

DEAN HUIJSEN AGREES PREMIER LEAGUE MOVE

A Premier League club has struck a £15m verbal deal that takes another Liverpool transfer target off the table. Dean Huijsen is heading to Bournemouth.

The Reds had been linked with a move for the highly-rated Juventus centre-back, who performed admirably on loan at Roma last season. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Huijsen will be moving to the south coast, subject to medical tests.

"Dean Huijsen to Bournemouth, here we go!" wrote Romano on X. "Verbal agreement in place on €18m deal plus sell-on clause for Juventus.

"Huijsen has agreed on long-term deal at Bournemouth with medical tests to follow. Juventus plan to bid for Jean-Clair Todibo as soon as Huijsen deal is signed."

With Liverpool still yet to announce a summer signing, another one of their targets has now been snapped up.

MAN UTD INTERESTED IN FORMER RED NECO WILLIAMS

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for former Liverpool defender Neco Williams this summer, according to a recent report.

The Wales international graduated from Liverpool's academy having initially joined the Reds in 2007, making 33 appearances for the club as he won the Premier League and FIFA Club World Cup.

However, Liverpool cashed in on him for £17m in 2022 as the young defender joined up with Nottingham Forest.

According to HITC, Forest will have to fend off significant interest in Williams this summer.

West Ham United have already seen a player-plus-cash offer for the full-back rejected, with Forest insistent that the young talent is not for sale.

However, their resolve may be tested in the coming weeks, with the report stating that he has 'attracted attention' from European giants AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, both of whom can offer Champions League football.

But Man Utd, Tottenham and Newcastle United are also all supposedly keeping tabs on Williams as the window progresses.

FABIAN MROZEK SEALS LOAN SWITCH

Liverpool have confirmed that academy goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek has joined Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna on a short loan after signing a new contract extension with the Reds.

Mrozek has penned a new deal with Liverpool before he makes the temporary move to Scandinavia, with the 20-year-old securing the first senior move of his career to date.

The loan will expire in January 2025 but it's believed that Brommapojkarna will have the option to extend the deal should Mrozek make a positive impression.

The Polish stopper joined the Reds in 2020 and is yet to make a senior appearance, although he did feature on the bench during six first-team matches last season.

He made 13 appearances in Premier League 2 as well, keeping five clean sheets as Liverpool finished the 2023/24 campaign in eighth spot.

FAILED NABIL FEKIR DEAL ENABLED ALISSON TRANSFER

Former Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has revealed how Nabil Fekir's infamous failed move to Anfield helped the Reds sign a current legend.

The former Lyon attacking midfielder was incredibly close to joining Liverpool in 2018. Fekir had even completed a medical ahead of a £53m switch.

But the deal collapsed at the last minute with Fekir having blamed his agent for the breakdown during a recent interview.

Liverpool's decision not to sign the France midfielder allowed them to recruit Alisson instead, Achterberg told  The Football Historian Podcast.

"If you would have signed Fekir, then there was no money to sign Ali," admitted Achterberg.

"So, we were lucky that that deal fell through and then I said, 'Okay boss, we have to be quick now because Chelsea for sure want to sign Ali too'. They will sell [Thibaut] Courtois to [Real] Madrid, so we have to do it before and that's what happened."
