Liverpool are set to confirm the signing of a second player to bolster their youth ranks as journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms the deal is done.

The Reds are said to have completed the Premier League's five step investigation programme for 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha. He becomes Liverpool's third signing of the summer.

The Academy is said to have had their eyes on the player, securing a deal in June that enables Ngumoha to swap Stamford Bridge for Anfield.

Ngumhoa has taken to social media to confirm his signing at Anfield. He will wear number 11 for the Reds, following in the footsteps of another former Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool want exciting winger

In a stormy press conference dominated by reaction to Pumas UNAM's shock 3-1 home defeat to Tigres in Mexico's Apertura competition, under-fire coach Gustavo Lema explained why one of his top attacking talents - valued at €3.7 million by FootballTransfers' Estimated Transfer Value - missed out on a headline-making move to Merseyside.

“’El Chino’ was scouted by one of the best clubs in the world and that is a source of pride,” declared Lema, who otherwise had to handle questions about poor form and fan unrest.

Salah contract risk

On the face of it, giving Mohamed Salah a new deal is an absolute no-brainer. The 32-year-old has started the 2024/25 campaign ridiculously, scoring in each of the opening three games and chipping in with three assists.

Only Erling Haaland (seven) has more goal involvements than the Liverpool No11 in the Premier League this term. The Norwegian goal machine is the only player to better Salah’s average FotMob rating of 8.55.

The former Roma winger ranks joint-fifth for Expected Goals (1.8) and is sixth for Expected Assists (1.1) in the English top flight

Once again, he ran riot at Old Trafford in Liverpool’s last outing before the international break, registering two assists and scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win.

Plans unveiled for Bajcetic

The 19-year-old featured for new coach Arne Slot in pre-season and with Liverpool failing to land a No.6 in the summer transfer window it was expected that the Spain youth international would be given an opportunity to compete for a spot at the base in midfield.

Nonetheless, Bajcetic was instead listed for loan with Salzburg - along with Barcelona - interested in adding the ball-winner to their ranks for the 2024/25 season.

Barcelona’s late attempts to take the player on loan ultimately failed and he instead made the move to join former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders in the Austrian top flight.

Klopp's biggest flop eyes up new club

Keita joined the German side in the summer of 2023, a move that was seen as an opportunity for the midfielder to rejuvenate his career after a mixed stint on Merseyside.

However his issues seemed to follow him over to Germany. The Guinean international made just five appearances for Bremen after struggling with injury.

The 29-year-old was also suspended for part of the season after the club has claimed the midfielder refused to travel with the team for a Bundesliga fixture against champions Bayer Leverkusen when he learned that he wouldn’t be part of the starting line up.

Endo reveals strange staff request

Wataru Endo has been speaking about an interesting request that Liverpool's staff have given him recently.

The Japanese international has not played a lot of minutes under Arne Slot so far this season. Endo has spent the majority of his time in pre-season and during the regular campaign on the bench so far.

But that could be about to change after the international break, with games coming in thick and fast for Liverpool.

Being the captain of the Japanese national team, Endo was on media duties prior to Japan's game against China tomorrow. Endo spoke to the Japanese media in a press conference where he revealed an interesting request that Liverpool staff have made to him.

According to Endo, the Reds' staff have been asking him about Japanese players and getting his verdict on certain individuals about whether they are a good player or not.
